Speaking around the knife in his teeth, Kevin shouted to Loginus, "Hold your ground." He tossed the young angel his blades, then drew two more from his belt.
Leaping just out of reach and hovering there, he asked the vampire, "Why haven't you attacked yet, night creature?"

Anthony chuckled. "Night Creature? My winged friend, I'm afraid you're to be sorely disappointed." Anthony leapt from the ground, spinning in mid-air and letting loose a few small shuriken at the angel in front of him. He landed nimbly and placed his glaive in front of his body, using it as a shield.

Twisting the blades in his hands, Kevin deflected the throwing stars. "What are you?" asked Kevin. Humans can't move like that, but he doesn't have fangs or any signs of a wingless angel of either race.

Longinus stared agape at the figure below them. He's not a vampire? Then what is he?! He deflected my spear like it was a flimsy arrow!
He landed on the ground, flanking the new opponent's side. "Do share."

Anthony grinned. "I'd hate to give all that away before I've killed at least one of you.
He thrust the glaive in front of him, drawing the chain tight around his arm. It swung an inch from the weaponless angel's face before arcing back and rewrapping itself around Anthony's arm. "This'll be fun."

"Loginus, back to the sky!" Kevin shouted at his companion. In rapid succession, he threw down a good dozen blades. Some secreting acids that were only meant to graze, others on a more accurate course.

Anthony's grin left his face as the daggers peppered down toward him. He raised the glaive, deflecting them. He moved the weapon away from his face only to see that his attackers had fled back into the air. He reattached the glaive to his back and walked forward, collecting the discarded spear. "I wonder if he would need this at all."
Anthony thrust the spear into the air with a roar. "HEY FLUFFY!" He screamed.
Longinus turned in the air to see a gilded gleam tearing below him. He dove downwards and caught his spear by the handle, collapsing it and placing it in his other hand. Cocky bastard.

Kevin, despite the situation, couldn't surpress a smile. "Fluffy?"

Longinus shook his head. "I'll never understand humans...or whatever the hell that thing was."

~!!~
Tristian groaned as he looked up to the dank ceiling above him. With a grunt, he cracked his back, each vertebrae echoing through the hollowed hall.
"Tristian!" someone shouted, "that's freaking gross!"
"Deal with it!" he called back, rolling his eyes. "You at least get to stand up, Midget!"
The silence was deafening for a second. "Whatdidyousay."
Tristain lay back, smiling. "Yooou heard me."
His mother elbowed him gently on his raised knee. "Behave yourself."
He sighed. "Yes, Mum."

Tristan's eyes flashed open and he sat up, his blanket falling from his chest. A soft whistle rang through the hall, before being sharply cut off. Shuffling of many feet woke him wholly, and he leapt to his feet.
"Everyone up and run!" he shouted, reaching for his shot gun. Some shot up and looked at him while others slowly pulled themselves from their bedding. "GET OUT!" he shouted. People seemed to understand all at once and the hall exploded into pandemonium as a majority of the women and children fled to the back of the chamber, toward the hidden tunnel and freedom. The men and remaining women, many only half dressed, joined Tristan. The silence grew deafening as the frantic patter of the women and children faded into the distance.
Then the world exploded around them. Tristan saw the angel moments before he was on the ground, struggling to regain control of his weapon. A knife sliced into the side of his head and he yelled. In a quick motion, he kicked the angel off him and stood, firing once. The angel fell to the ground. Tristan looked around, but could only see well out of one eye. Blood poured over the other, nearly blinding him.
A man. . . Cale . . . fell beside him, nearly beheaded. With a grunt, Tristan fell to the ground again, his attacker on his back.
"Good night, sweet prince," the angel sneered. Tristan could just see the greasy smile his was giving. "And flights of Angels sing thee off to thy rest."
Tristan inhaled and rolled, knocking the angel from his back. He grabbed a rock, and slammed it into the angel's skull. A sickening crunch met his ears, and the Angel's eyes glazed over.
After an eternity and several more skirmishes, Tristan and five others managed to retreat into the dark.
The bodies of the seven dead were left behind.

~!!~
Kevin was back in the dining hall after his lookout shift was over. He had just finished a meal and was picking his teeth with a small dagger. "What was it?" he asked Loginus.

"I still don't have a damned clue", he said. "It wasn't vampire, but it couldn't have been human, could it? No wings, so it can't be an angel. What in the world is left?" Longinus drank slowly from a wine glass. "Either we've somehow managed to discover a new species, or we're missing something important."

"A human's humor," Kevin muttered, chuckling. "Don't forget about that, Fluffly."

"Call me Fluffy one more time and I'll introduce you to my friend the kaleidoscoping spear head." Longinus casually spun his collapsed spear toward Kevin. "Capisce?"
