Anthony grinned. "She has skills, but you'd be a fool to think waltzing in her office with your wrist in that condition will result in a quick, easy, and perfect heal. Healing magic does have its downsides."
Anthony held up his right hand, palm inwards. Of the five fingers, only four had nails. "Sometimes they do things a bit backwards." He made a fist, and four of the fingers closed normally. The other closed the opposite way.
"Sucks for fighting, but it nets you a free drink every once in a while." Anthony looked up. "Anyway, let's get going. If we hobble over it'll take a few hours, but if you hop on my back we'll be there in around twenty-five minutes. "

Cass thought of her few interesting healings. Ami was good, no doubt, but even she was having problems. Cass was growing resistant to them. "Why should I trust you?" she asked again.

"Because I just pulled your limp body from an inferno that used to be one of my favorite clearings, am taking you to a camp that I don't even like advertising its existence, let alone location, and your entire body is bandaged the remains of my only shirt?"
Anthony crossed his arms impatiently.

Cass nodded contemplatively, tossing each option through her mind. They were limited - Far more limited than she was comfortable with them being. With a sigh, she looked up at the man. "Fair enough."

"Good."
Anthony walked over to the girl's frame and tossed her on his back. Her grip tightened around his neck, and he hooked his arms under her knees. "You're lighter than I thought," he said. "I bet we could make it in twenty."
He dug his feet into the ground, leapt to the branch above him, and began to skip across the treeline, limb to limb. He began to move faster and faster, until the bark became a blur before his eyes. With a whoop, he began to run up the limbs as he moved forward. He reached the top of the treeline, and jumped out and over several of the trees. For a moment, the entire landscape was visible around him. Excitement jittered through his nerves as adrenaline pumped through his veins.
After continuing along the treetops for a while, Anthony's pace suddenly slowed. His jaw dropped. "Oh...no."

Cass' grasp on his neck tightened. "What's "Oh no"?!" she cried. "There's no "Oh no!" when you're in the air with me on your back!"

"Chill. We're not in the air, we're on a branch. The "Oh no" is that." He pointed to a collection of angel feathers resting upon a tree. Soft and white, they fluttered aimlessly in the breeze.
"We're barely a thousand feet from my camp. If there's an angel even remotely nearby, things might be a little complicated."

Cass growled in his ear, "We are still a long way above the ground, and if need be, I can fight. Don't worry."

Anthony jumped from the top of the tree. "This is going to be awkward for a moment."
He thrust his hand behind him, groping wildly along his back. His hand gripped around the edge of his glaive, and he pulled it from its protective leather pouch. The chain tightened around his arm, cutting into his flesh. He tossed the glaive at a nearby tree, connecting squarely with the trunk. In a wide arc he swung outwards and farther into the forest. The glaive's blades slipped from the branch after a quick flick of his wrist. The two arced slowly in the air, then landed on the ground in a calm and gentle manner. "You okay back there?" he inquired while wrapping the chain's slack around his arm.

"Oh clearly!" she hissed. "Ignore the fact that I'm stuck on your back, much much too far above the ground, and I'm fantastic. Focus so you don't end up killing us both"

Anthony chuckled. "I don't know about you, but I don't die so easy."
He landed readily on the ground and took off towards the camp, careful to follow the fringe alongside the forest. His bare feet tread noiselessly across the ground, his toes gripping into every inch. "No words beyond this point," he whispered. "If this is what I'm expecting, then we want the drop."

Cass tensed slightly before nodding. Damn my luck, she thought. Can't I ever have a normal day where I don't end up almost dying every thirty seconds?
