Carwyn again expressed his thanks to Ami. "I am glad you were able to see me. Earlier today I was involved in a rather tiring fight and it resulted with the cretin..."
The door swung the rest of the way open, revealing to Carwyn the current occupants of the healing room.
"...breaking my wing," he spat.

Cass laughed nervously and placed her pack back on the ground. "I'm dead," she said with a grin.

"You don't know the half of it, human." Carwyn fumed. He raised two hands in front of him, one creating a small shield of energy and the other holding an all-too-familiar white orb. "Just in case there's some nasty backsplatter," he said with a malevolent grin.

"I'm unarmed, you jackass!" Cass cried, ducking behind a desk.
Ami blinked, and looked between the two. "Carywyn, come with me. Now," she commanded, her voice equivalent to steel. He ignored her.

"Do you think I care that you are unarmed? Do not answer the rhetorical question, as tempting as it is for you, human; and you, other human: move a muscle and you'll see how quickly a shield can become a very, very sharp sword."
He changed his tone of voice, directing his statements towards Ami. "As for you, my kindly Ami, I suggest you step outside of the room. I promise to not leave a mess."

Ami grabbed Carwyn's arm and twisted it behind his back. She coldly whispered in his ear, "She is my patient, Carwyn, as are you. The moment you entered my dwelling, you agreed to a peace treaty. If you kill her, you will regret it. I did not spend an hour pulling shrapnel from her back just to have her killed on my floor. Desist, or leave, or lose your arm."

Carwyn reluctantly lowered his free arm and stared coldly at Ami. "If you were not of such value to all sides, I would not doubt that you would have been killed for insolence a thousand times over." He absorbed the energy back into his body and stepped out of the room.
"I look forward to seeing you again, Cassindrinai," Carwyn gave a twisted, cheshire-cat grin. "I look forward to seeing you again quite soon."

Cass' eyes widened. The door shut behind Ami as she scurried after Carwyn. With a thud, she fell to her bottom, her long hair falling carelessly over her shoulders.
". . ." She opened her mouth and looked much like a gaping fish. Several times, she opened her mouth before shutting it again.
". . .I'M ALIVE! YESS!" she shouted before whimpering. "Ow. . ."

Jack stared at her for a minute before looking to Ami. "Who was that bastard?"

Cass slowly sat down again, never tearing her eyes from the door. "Carwyn," she murmured. Her brows knit, and she tentatively leaned back. "I don't remember-" She bolted up to her feet and made her way to her knives. "That son of a bitch!"

". . . Cass?" Jack asked, confused. "What the hell is going on?"

Cass looked at him with hard eyes. "He killed María and Dimka," she whispered. She closed her eyes against the unbidden images of the couple, bloodied and mangled in their home. "María was in labor when they found her and Dmitri. He killed them as soon as the baby was born. The rest of the brigade took the baby. . ." She trailed off and looked down. "The baby was taken and dropped. . . And Christian. . . He was their little two year old son. He was forced to watch it all. . . And then they snapped his . . ." An image flashed in front of her mind and she turned green. Her fists clenched in anger. "I tried to catch them, Jack. I wasn't fast enough. . ."

Jack froze for only a moment before he stood up and pulled on his jacket. "I'm going to kill him," he whispered. Dmitri and he had been close.

Cass blinked back tears. "I promised to protect them. . ." she whispered to herself. Resolutely, she found her jacket, boots, and weapons. In cold silence, she found her weaponry and left the healing room after leaving a small token for Ami to trade on the market. She didn't care at the moment if Jack followed her.
She'd found her cousin's and her god children's killer, and she had every intention of finding him.

Jack walked out of the room a little after Cass but ran into Ami along the way. "We're going, Ami. Thanks again."
