Kaleigh nodded. "Is he decent? No."

Josie laughed softly. "So that's what that was. . . And who is his. . . friend?"

She shrugged. "I dunno. Probably Fi. She's eccentric. To the max."

Kaleigh nodded. "As I see." She looked outside. "I wish it were snow."

Josie looked down. "I've never seen snow. . . well, besides the stuff on TV. What's it feel like?"

Kaleigh smiled. "It's cold, and light, and beautiful. When it melts on your face, it's like you've just. . I don't know how to describe it."

"I wish I knew. . . In the south all we've ever gotten is low fifties for temperature." Josie sighed but then smiled again. "Oh well, that's going to change if I stay here, I suppose."

Fiametta awoke to the quiet murmur of voices downstairs. It was peaceful for a moment. Then the peace was shattered by Nakari's snore. Fi rolled her eyes and poked him hard in the side.
"Hey dork," she said as he grunted awake. "Your sister has someone over."
She stretched and got out of his bed, searching the floor for her missing clothes.
