Shoes by a doorstep, two by two Red by yellow, black, and blue All too large and all too tall A clownish pair that don't belong
Canvas, leather, plastic, hemp some immaculate; some unkempt. Tongues are still, soles below, Snow outside makes time seem slowed
Sun dips down, the day is done the celebration's just begun Movies, fires, dogs at play The shoes lay dormant, tucked away
A night of fun is not for them corralled inside their private glen Knots unfurl between their laces which sit like grins on hidden faces
