“Is this thing on?”
“Eff! Ember, you’re on my foot!”
“Well, excu-u-u-u-u-use me, Princess!”
“Do you have a death wish?”
“You guys, this is being recorded now. . .”
The cover is lifted from the webcam revealing Ember and Enkou mauling each other with gusto. For some reason, Enkou has the chair in her hands, and Ember has. . .
“FOR GOD’S SAKE, EMBER, DON’T HIDE BEHIND MY CELLO! I’LL KILL YOU.” Ember retreats, screaming down the hall as Enkou tears after her, laughing like a maniac. Groaning, I resist the urge to scream into my hands.
“Hello world!” I say, waving at the webcam. “It’s been a few months and a few visits to the hospital, but Enkou, Ember, the rest of the gang and myself decided it’s time to break our not-so-silent silence!”
I pick up the webcam and pan it around the room. Mannix looked around moodily. “Get that away from me,” he growls. Shrugging, I move onto Mathias, who is looking at his phone anxiously.
“Dude,” I mutter, disgustedly. With a contemptuous shake of my head, I reach the open door of my room where I find Enkou on top of Ember, giving her the type writer. “GUYS!” I shout as I place the webcam back on my desk. “This is supposed to be our come-back and all you can do is beat the shit out of each other?”
Enkou gave me a blank look as Ember’s jaw dropped.
“What else do you expect, Elle!?” they cry in unison. With a glare, they’re back at each other’s throats.
“Oh, God,” I can’t help but groan, slumping back into my desk.
There’s a thud and a crash, and suddenly I find myself on the floor. “AGGGH! I’M BEING SQUISHED!”
“Was that fat joke?” someone asks mirthlessly.
I open my eyes to find Sabine, and squwee. “Sabine!”
“Get a room, you too!” Enkou cat-calls. I flip her the Spanish bird, and she sticks her tongue out at me. Ember comes up behind her and tackles her before pinning her. Angrily, Enkou flips over and viciously shanks Ember.
“I missed-ed-ed-ed-ed yoou!” Sabine cries, hugging me tightly and pulling my attention from the two girls.
Coughing, I tap on her shoulder. “Ican’tbreathe.Sab,Ican’tbreathe!”
The girl sits up, grinning. “Eh,” she says with a shrug.
I look down at my rib cage, then back at her. “Dude, I think you broke something.” An evil grin meets my gaze. I sigh and sit back up. “Where’s Tony?”
“With his MARIIIIIIA! Who else?” Sabine shrugs. I laugh and shake my head.
“Figures,” Mannix says, smirking. “Oh, Ashlyn!” he cries, wrapping his arms around the air. “Ashlyn!” Sabine and I laugh at him, and he grins.
“How’s my beloved Sabine?” Mannix asks as Sabine and I calm down.
Sabine gives him a look. “Down boy.”
Mannix slips off the edge of the bed and lands on a knee. “But, soft! Love, abandon me not!”
Sabine gives me a pleading look, and I shrug. “Your problem!” I mouth. Her jaw drops and she mimes crying.
“Why tears, Lady?” Mannix asks, with Sabine suddenly in his arms.
“Put me down!” she screams.
I look around the room, at all the people around me, and smile. “It’s nice to be- ENKOU, PUT DOWN THE KITCHEN KNIFE.”
