If I went out and looked into the sky tonight, Would you follow me wherever you are? Stare at the moon as we long to take flight, Just to pretend the distance isn’t so far?
Maybe we can pretend it’s all alright, And what we know isn’t a cruel lie. We can ignore the truths that Bind, tighten, suffocate.
If I danced along the ocean shore tonight, Would you follow me into the tide? Play amongst the dappled surface, Just to imagine the moon will never set?
Maybe we can pretend it’s all alright, And what we know isn’t a cruel lie. We can ignore the truths that Guide, usher, and illuminate.
If I stood beneath the stars tonight, Would you follow me up above the city? Celebrate the lives we own, Just to play the lives we’ll never have?
Maybe we can pretend it’s all alright, And what we know isn’t just a cruel truth, Set before us as a challenge, Set, plan, checkmate.

I like this. A lot. Very against the grain.
