SICK.
xenu.net/
You should feel the same way, after hearing the stories. The website is a devoted anti-Scientology group originally started by "Anonymous" (/b/ from 4chan, if the name is familiar to you at all. The people who populate the board are disgusting and terrible. They get kicks off of things that would be better suited to the offended page on EncyclopediaDramatica--which, fun fact, is actually compiled as a side-project by people "Anonymous". This is a long tangent I'm going off on here, but the whole anti-Scientology movement actually started as a joke to attack a religion and has grown to reveal a lot of corruption. But I digress. The point is that they've uncovered a /lot/, and the xenu.net movement has grown to have an actual point behind it instead of "lol there's people who believe something different let's make fun of them")
[shadow=red,left,300]IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS IS NOT AN ATTACK ON SCIENTOLOGY, BUT ON THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY.
You are entitled to hold your own beliefs, but the CoS has on many occasions shown its deceitfulness.[/b][/shadow][/color]
ANYWAY
Included in the site, for those too lazy to click/read/etc. are:
If you only read one thing out of this thread, read the Lisa McPherson story.
Beliefs are one thing; the act of ensnaring members and demanding ridiculous fees to leave, even going so far as to deny people medication and psychiatric help for people who may need it, even going so far as to imprison a woman for days after she had a mental breakdown and was in dire need of medical care, is disgusting. The first time I heard these stories I was physically ill. I've read literally dozens of stories including people dying for speaking out against the Church, people trying to leave but being unable to because it simply costs too much, and people being ruined financially/emotionally/even driven insane by Scientologists under the "Fair Game Law" stated by the CoS.
The cause of "taking down' Scientology from a religious, tax-exempt status is one of the most important causes in my life. To see justice brought down onto this "religion", on the people who are making millions upon millions of dollars from people who are seeking help and guidance in their lives. Above all else, to see streets lined with protesters who don't need to hide their faces behind Guy Fawkes masks in order to protect themselves and their families from personal attacks by go-to Scientologists who make death threats, smear campaigns, and even assault/attempted murder/successful murder.
Please, visit the website at the beginning of this post. Read, absorb, discover. The Church of Scientology is one that has been at the forefront of dangerous cults and corruption. They have members infiltrating high-ranking government positions whose purpose is to cover up potentially harmful information about the Church. They sue people, not to win, but to run them out of money in legal fees. Members have killed because of the Fair Game Law.
Please. For me.
