Gerald's eyes snapped open in a moment.
He looked around the room, muttering to himself. He crawled into his bed and sat on its edge, rubbing his eyes. I hate the passing out part of all this drinking. He scratched his foot and rubbed his head. A familiar cottony feeling stuck in his mouth. Ick.
A quick look around the room was enough for Gerald to see what he wanted. Ah, water, good. He reached for the glass and put it to his lips. He took a long gulp before dropping the glass and spitting the contents of the glass on the floor. "WHAT THE FUCK!"
Ah shit, he was supposed to drink all that, Nathaniel thought from the living room. Ahhhh hell.

Nakari froze, his skin prickling. "Fuck my life," he whispered, resisting the urge to freak out further.

Nathaniel ducked into the basement quick as can be, hopping the steps two at a time. Fuck fuck fuck
Gerald roared into the hallway, stumbling in a still-dazed state. "MOONSHINE?!"

Nakari almost relaxed until the door beneath him slammed shut. Fuckmylife! he repeated in a mantra style.

Gerald stumbled into the living room and sat down on the couch. Recovering from his headache, he sat down. That boy is going to die.
He casually sprawled on the couch and watched the basement stairs. And now we play the waiting game.

Nakari waited in silence for a few minutes. The bedroom door didn't open again. Finally, he deemed it safe to move. Exhaling, he moved tentatively forward. "OOOOOOOOOOOOH you touch my tra-la-la!" Nakari's eyes widened. His cell phone blared, echoing, from his pocket. Frantically, he dug for it, to silence it, but it was too late.

Gerald's eyes scanned up to the ceiling, a muffled beat coming from the air vent above him.
What in the hell is that?

"Shit!" Nakari hissed, finally finding the stupid phone, silencing it. His hands shook drastically, and he dropped the phone. It landed, clattering loudly. "Shitshitshit!" he muttered. He lay on his stomach and began tediously crawling through the vents again.

Gerald walked through his house until he found the thermostat. He cranked the knob until it was on full blast heat, then walked back over to the air duct. He followed the sounds of clunking until he reached a grated opening. He stood on a chair, face immediately next to the opening. As the sounds grew closer, he gently whispered into the vent.
"...Hello."

Nakari stopped in place, fear paralyzing him. Three shaky breaths later, he shook his head. No. That's what he wants. Keep moving, dammit. Slowly, and as silently as he could, he shuffled backwards.
This is a twisted game of cat and mouse.

"Geez, Nakari. Answer your phone already. It's been what? Two hours? Three?" Jacoby muttered under his breath.

Nathaniel hid in the basement, quivering. He leaned against a vent in the basement, and instantly recoiled. "What the hell! Why is that so h---"
His thoughts trailed off instantly to the air ducts. Ah hell. Not that one. It has to be that one to spy on me. He climbed the stairs into the living room. Maybe dad hasn't noticed

Every time he moved, Nakari's belt clattered against the vent. With a growl, he undid the buckle and slid it from the belt loops, and dropped it on base of the vent. With much more ease, he continued backwards.

Gerald popped open the other vent opening with a screwdriver. He could hear the intruder moving backwards toward him.
"Not a good idea, my friend."

Nakari grimaced and considered his options, which were growing more limited by the second. He looked up, as if to pray, and found his answer.
